small white chapel on top of a rock. It is the little church of Santo Antônio, a construction of only 6 square meters that keeps a moving history.
The chapel was inaugurated on June 5, 1998, inside, there is an image of Saint Anthony, just 60 centimeters high and acquired in São Paulo that inspires the ceremonial tone required by the environment, but the attentions are they return mainly to a framed photo that occupies a discreet space on the altar.
In the photo, the image of Diógenes Modenezi, who died on March 7, 1998 at the age of 36, drowning victim in the waters of Barra do Sahy beach, in Aracruz, after suffering a heart attack while swimming. An unusual and sad trick of fate.
Diógenes' mother, Santa Franco Vescov Modenezi, a devotee of Saint Anthony, says that Diogenes fought for 10 years against lung cancer and was considered cured a few months before he died. She also says that the construction of the chapel was the initiative of the son himself and continued by the family, but that now it has become a memory.
