From School Group to Polo Cultural



In 1941, the Caraguatatuba School Group building was built on Dr. Cândido Mota Square, which initially had four classrooms for the elementary school.



In the 1950s, the School Group served an average of 550 students enrolled in 13 classes, operating in two periods. Students benefited from a school box, dental office, school soup, school garden, children's library, volleyball court and basket ball and a "O Caiçara" school newspaper created by teacher and director Jorge Passos.



In 1952, the "Thomaz Ribeiro de Lima" State Gymnasium was installed in the School Group building, which remained in its premises until 1957. From 1955, the building underwent a general refurbishment for the construction of new classrooms. renewal and increase of staff.



The school was named the First Grade State School Teacher Adaly Coelho Passos in 1972, in honor of its first teacher named to teach in the school group, who was always dear to parents and students.



The school group was part of the state education network until 1998, when basic education was municipalized. From that date, it became the Municipal Elementary School - EMEF Professor Adaly Coelho Passos. In 1999, the school was deactivated and students were transferred to new school units.



In 2000 and 2001, the building was adapted to house the Cultural Center Professor Adaly Coelho Passos, inaugurated in June 2002.



During the revitalization of the Museum of Art and Culture, in 2009, access to cultural heritage was expanded through new technologies, disseminating history and culture in an attractive and interactive way.
