Decree No. 1593 of August 5, 1974 With the purpose of creating the Municipality of Inírida in the Guainía Police Station. Index in its First Articulation: ´´Rigese in the current district of the Puerto Obando Municipality police station, which will continue to call Inírida .... ... Second Article: .. The head of the Municipality of Inírida, will be the public address of the same name, which will continue to be the capital of the Guainía Police Station. Thus it is with the creation of the Municipality that the current capital takes the name of Inírida and in the 1991 constitution that elevates the Commission to a Department.





Inírida, capital of the department of Guainía. On May 12, 1965 Puerto Obando is configured as the Capital of the Guainía Police Station, taking the name of Puerto Inírida in memory of the mythical Princess Inírida. In 1974, Puerto Inírida is named Municipality. In 1991, with the new Political Constitution of Colombia, the special Commission became the Department of Guainía and at that same moment it changed the name of the city to Inírida.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS



PIEDRA DE MAVISO: Extension of the Guiana massif formed in the Tertiary era, considered one of the oldest areas in the world.
